Disclaimer
I write for myself, for my memories and to turn over my thoughts. If you find my writing/thoughts interesting, then let me know as it may indicate that I will in turn enjoy your own musings and I'm always looking for a good read. If you don't, well that's fine too.
The Third date
2003-06-03 -- 11:05 a.m.

(previous entry details the second date and contains a link to the first)

I was rather enjoying the whole dating thing, and decided it was my turn to take him out, I wanted to do something different, try something new. So where did I turn? Why the Internet of course! While I was searching through things to do in Melbourne that weekend, I caught up in one of my favourite Bulletin Boards. One of the messages here was asking if anyone else in Melbourne was attending the Solstice Ball in Prahran... sounds good thought I, so I quickly replied asking the details and if she knew there were any tickets left? At the same time sending out a Google search, which led me to, who'd have though it, a web page on the event! Fantastic. I emailed the organizer giving her my phone number and desperately pleading for tickets. Someone must have been paying attention because I received a phone call that afternoon, she even gave me a discount on the tickets to only $50 each (including a three course meal and wine), and the evening was set. I notified NoSurprise that I was taking him out to a Ball that evening and to dress up. He was a little bemused, but went along with it, lovely man that he is.

Oh he did very well with the dressing up too, wearing a gorgeous suit, with a silky shirt I kept touching all evening and a curious purple tie with cartoon characters on it. Wanting to keep with the Solstice theme, I wore my $350 medieval dress that I'd bought two years earlier when studying in Geelong. I hardly ate for weeks to afford this dress and finally it came through for me. The dress is handmade and dyed a mixture of green and rusty brown, with a layer of lace detail covered along the sides. The shoulders are left bare with a corset style bust with ribbon tie. The sleeves are full-length sheer lace with another piece of fabric draping in a point from each shoulder to my index knuckle. The skirt is full bodied and layered with a little puff around the behind, in total creating a gorgeous hour glass figure, showing off my chest and shoulders. My best friend in Geelong made me buy this dress as she said, "it matches your freckles". Paired with simple sandals, minimal make-up, no jewelry and curly red shoulder-length hair. He was blown away. Purrfect.

We took a tram to the Town Hall so both of us were free to consume as much wine for our $50 as we could, and we did. Originally we were seated on a large table in a corner all by ourselves, where we immediately began enjoying the bottle of red wine, and regaling each other with stories from our childhoods. This was short lived though as we were grabbed by a rather dominating woman and hauled over to fill up her table. And what an interesting table it was.

To my right were two young Wicca witches, one actually happened to be the girl from the Bulletin Board! To NoSurprise's left was a spunky bi-sexual Goth in a to-die-for coat that I later purloined for a brief while. Next to the Goth we had the overbearing woman, who actually turned out to be a dominatrix and her apprentice. Then seated opposite from us on the table was a male gay couple. Oh it was a very, very interesting evening.

The dominatrix was a publisher for a small Melbourne fetish zine, and bombarded the general conversation with such gems as Plushies; plushies are people who enjoy having sex with stuffed toys and/or stuffed animals, and Ferverts; ferverts are people who dress up in character suits, eg. the wilderness society Koala, and get naughty. Lovely. The Dom, apprentice, goth and gay couple all seemed to know each other quite well, and entertained the four of us (being NoSurprise, myself, and the two Wiccans) with tales from Leather and Chains expo's and events around Melbourne.

Dinner arrived late, as it always does at these events, and silly me chose spaghetti, which ended up tasting like dog food. Ick! Therefore I continued to merrily fill my stomach with that gorgeous red wine, and a little of the dessert wine as well.

The wicca girls and I took turns prancing around in the gorgeous goth's fantabulous coat. Oh it was soo soft, and red, and damn I was so tempted to run off with it. Then we were all treated by a belly dancing performance, followed by awards for most creative/stylish etc outfits. During this point NoSurprise and I disappeared outside for a heavy petting session, returning for the dessert and a little eye candy as everyone moved to the dance floor. The Wicca girl from the Bulletin Board in particular caught my eye. She was wearing a clingy velvet dress, and danced in a slow sexy manner that...yes, I had imbibed enough of that wine to flirt with her, and damn it was fun.

The lights dimmed, hall closed, and we stumbled our way back to the Tram stop. Well actually, I stumbled and he half-carried me all the way home. Once back at the flat all the wine made itself known and NoSurprise had to find his way around the many ties of my dress, and console me in bed while I cried and poured out my entire life history, complete with sordid secrets of my teenage friends and the horrible undertakings of evil, evil guardians. Eventually I cried myself to sleep cradled in his arms, and was extremely surprised to wake in the morning and find him still there. Amazing man.

I think that morning's lovemaking will stick in my mind for a long time yet to come. It was sweet, tender and heartfelt. With touch and soft words he communicated his care for me, and I seriously lost a large part of my heart to him that morning. On our third date, I'd made myself drunken silly and revealed deep and lasting issues, yet he still wanted me, still wanted to try. Where did I find this amazing creature of a man?
